Tesla Approved Body Shop in Iași: Ottimo repairs Teslas to official standards
Ottimo on Calea Chișinăului in Iași is a Tesla Approved Body Shop. Spanesi bench, aluminium welding, infrared paint booth, and end-to-end insurance claims. A Tesla Service near Leroy Merlin is due in 1–2 months.
Ottimo at Calea Chișinăului 132 in Iași is officially a Tesla Approved Body Shop (TABS): an independent garage trained and equipped to Tesla’s standards for body repairs on the brand’s electric cars.
We visited the shop and filmed the equipment, aluminium procedures and how the insurance claim process works. The video is on the Mașina Timpului channel (in Romanian).
Why a TABS matters
Only approved shops can order original Tesla structural parts (such as chassis rails). Without that status, an independent garage cannot properly repair a heavily damaged Tesla.
A TABS handles bodywork, paint, windshields, suspension/steering and structural repairs. It cannot open or repair the high-voltage battery or drive units — those stay with Tesla Service.
What we saw at Ottimo
- Spanesi Touch 3D measuring — checks body symmetry to the millimetre against factory points.
- Spanesi frame benches for fixtures and Tesla repair procedures.
- Aluminium welding with approved tools; technicians sat certification exams (including in Turkey). On structural aluminium, parts with micro-cracks are replaced, not pulled like old steel.
- Infrared Spanesi paint booth — cures paint by heating the panel, not with classic gas/diesel air heating.
- Hunter Elite alignment and road-force wheel balancing.
- Hydraulic table to drop the battery when structural welding is needed (fire risk).
Insurance claims
Ottimo handles the whole file: opening the claim, inspection, follow-up assessments on insurer platforms, and the repair itself — for RCA (third-party) and CASCO (comprehensive). You can bring the car straight to the shop.

Tesla Service is coming to Iași too
In the video, the shop says that in about 1–2 months an official Tesla Service will also open in Iași, near Leroy Merlin — for mechanical work, batteries and issues outside body repair. The approved body shop and Tesla Service cover different jobs: one does the shell and structure; the other does the electric and drivetrain systems.
Other TABS in Romania (from their own sites): DAB Auto, Top Lac, Boom Car, Happy Car (Bucharest/Ilfov area) and Elite Colour (Cluj). Ottimo is the first in the Moldova region we could confirm publicly.
